Lionel Messi will have competition: Koke speaks with confidence

The Rojiblancos skipper Koke had only praise for their summer signing Luis Suarez. The Uruguayan striker signed as he was considered surplus for Ronald Koeman's restructure at Barcelona.

All this despite him being the Catalan's third all-time top-scorer. As things stand, Suarez has five goals and an assist from six appearances, also creating four chances for his team.

This has contributed majorly to Atletico Madrid's unbeaten run, who are currently third with two games in hand compared to the teams above them.

Koke also said that his presence has allowed Joao Felix, Marco Llorente, and Angel Correa to flourish.

In fact, Koke also claimed that even the likes of Lionel Messi and former teammate Antonio Griezmann would have to fight for a spot in their current squad.

Things have not been the best at the Wanda Metropolitano in the past years and this season seems to be the one after Suarez's inclusion.

Koke was also asked about the future of Diego Costa and Luis Suarez playing together. He said,"They are two great forwards and they have to adapt together. The team is playing well and has more solutions in the attack."

Koke was also asked about Griezmann's condition at Barcelona and also the fact that the last time these sides played each other, he was brought on at the 90th minute.

Koke said, "I was very surprised to see a player of the stature of Griezmann (not play until) the 90th minute in the last duel when we faced Barca."

Koke also said that the Frenchman will not get an easy return in the squad as the competition has increased a lot.

Considering the treatment Suarez was provided with towards the end of his spell with the Blaugrana, it seems like Suarez is well-settled in his new dressing room with several young talents around him.

Also, working under an influential manager like Simeone may change certain aspects about him and the world may witness a reformed Luis Suarez.
