Luka Modric feels Kylian Mbappe should leave PSG

Luka Modric says Kylian Mbappe has the quality to “dominate the scene” but he will have to prove himself away from PSG. The French forward may have to leave Paris Saint-Germain and flourish in a more competitive league to prove his potential, according to the Croatian.

Mbappe, who is only 21, has won four Ligue 1 titles, the Coupe de France and Coupe de la Ligue, while he also became a World Champion with France two years ago. Real Madrid has been one of the clubs that is linked with the Frenchman almost every transfer window and this increases his chances of joining Los Blancos as that will also enable him to work with the Real Madrid and France legend, Zinedine Zidane.

Recently, PSG’s sporting director Leonardo said he does not see Mbappe or Neymar leaving in the next transfer window but Modric believes that Mbappe will need a move away from PSG to showcase his talents on another level if he wishes to become a dominant star in World Football.

Speaking to La Gazzetta Dello Sport, Modric said, “Mbappe has everything to dominate the scene but I think that to make the leap in quality he needs to go to a championship in which his team does not win so easily.”

Modric also praised Vinicius Junior, Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling. Mbappe still has the opportunity to become a Champions League winner this season, with the completion of the competition scheduled in August.

Modric also appreciated PSG for their performance in the Champions League and he looks to them as one of the prime contenders to win the competition. Real Madrid will be looking to overcome a 2-1 first-leg deficit against Manchester City in the last 16 to remain a part of the competition.
