Paris Saint-Germain want Arsenal star striker on loan

Arsenal skipper Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been linked with a loan move to French giants Paris Saint-Germain in January with an option to buy.

The 30-year-old has been identified as a potential replacement for Uruguyan international Edinson Cavani, who seems to be on his way out of Parc des Princes this month.

Aubameyang has been the talisman at Arsenal having scored 57 goals in 91 games for the Gunners over two and a half seasons.

He has already scored 16 times in the 2019/20 campaign, with only Jamie Vardy and Sergio Aguero ahead of him in the race for the Premier League Golden Boot.

He shared the Golden Boot last season with Liverpool duo Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane having scored 22 goals.

It was initially thought up until a couple of days ago that the Arsenal star was set for a move to Spanish giants Barcelona.

The La Liga holders have been looking for someone to fill the boots of Luis Suarez, who they have lost for four months due to injury.

It seemed that Aubameyang's move to Camp Nou was all but done but reports claim that Barcelona have shifted their interest elsewhere.

It is believed that the Blaugrana are targeting a long-term replacement of Suarez and have set their sights on 22-year-old Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez.

Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain are worried regarding the situation of their star forward Cavani who is wanted by the trio of Atletico Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester United.

PSG manager Thomas Tuchel,  even came out and claimed he did not know himself what is going on with the striker.

He said: "He (Cavani) has been training with us for the past few days, but the situation is not clear for him either. And for that, he will not be available for tomorrow."

Cavani has been sensational in the seven seasons since signing for PSG, scoring a total of 198 goals in 292 appearances.

And it remains to be seen whether both Aubameyang and Cavani will decide to stick or twist in the transfer market with less than a week to go.

Aubameyang still has a contract with Arsenal until next summer, so he could yet decide he wants to remain in north London. It is believed that he has already rejected a new deal from the Gunners and could move in the summer if not in January.
