"I'm not a sack of potatoes," Rakitic frustated with unclear future at Barcelona

FC Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic has desperate for a move from a long time, although, he has confirmed that he has every intention to renew his contract in Catalunya. Rakitic has been unhappy with the diminished role in the team and prior to the Covid-19 hiatus, the 32-year-old had started just ten of Barcelona’s 27 La Liga matches.

Rakitic is in the final year of his contract and the Croat has been waiting to get more time on the field.  Via Mundo Deportivo he said,

”I am not a bag of potatoes. I will decide my future. As I always said, being able to play at Barca is the perfect place. What I want is to enjoy and help the team.”

“Hopefully I can finish this contract year. If it can’t be, we’ll sit down but now the most important thing is to be on top and finish the season in the best possible way. Then everything will be analyzed but my idea is to end that contract.”

However, as far as Rakitic’s future goes, Manchester United and Atletico Madrid have been recently linked. Reports say that Sevilla are trying to sign him, six years after his €14 million move to Camp Nou. Barcelona want €20m and that is one of the reasons the deals are not going through.

When asked about the rumors of moving back to Sevilla, Rakitic said, “I have a special affection for Seville but directly to the city, I have my family there. I have always said that it would be a great dream to wear that shirt again, everyone knows it but it is not my decision, if I want it or not, it has more things behind.”

“Sporting director Monchi and everyone in Seville has my phone, they haven’t called me yet and recently it was my birthday and Monchi didn’t call me. It is something that everyone knows, from my feeling.”
