Ravindra Jadeja Makes History as Longest-Reigning No. 1 ICC Test All-Rounder

Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has etched his name into the record books by holding the No. 1 spot in the ICC Test all-rounder rankings for the longest duration in history.

In the latest ICC rankings update, Jadeja continues to lead the Test all-rounder charts with 400 rating points. Bangladesh’s Mehidy Hasan Miraz follows in second place with 327 points.

South Africa’s Marco Jansen and Australian Test captain Pat Cummins occupy the third and fourth spots, respectively, while veteran Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan rounds out the top five.

Jadeja also features prominently in other Test rankings — he is currently ranked 10th among bowlers and 48th among batsmen in the format, underlining his value as a complete cricketer.

Ravindra Jadeja, who represents India in both ODIs and Test matches, climbed to the top of the ICC Test rankings for all-rounders in March 2022. The left-handed all-rounder reached this milestone following a sensational performance against Sri Lanka in the first Test of a two-match series held in Mohali. Jadeja delivered an extraordinary all-round display, scoring an unbeaten 175 runs and claiming nine wickets in the match.

His stellar performance helped him dethrone West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder from the top spot. Since then, Jadeja has consistently maintained his position as the world’s leading Test all-rounder.

Jadeja, a left-handed all-rounder, has been a vital force in the Indian Test team. In his 80 Test matches so far, he has amassed 3,370 runs at an impressive average of 34.74. With the ball, he has claimed 323 wickets at a stellar average of 24.14. Since 2022, Jadeja has been in exceptional form in the longest format of the game, consistently delivering match-winning performances with both bat and ball.

In 2022, the Indian all-rounder showcased his all-round brilliance by scoring 328 runs and claiming 10 wickets in just three Test matches. He followed it up in 2023 with 281 runs and an impressive haul of 33 wickets across seven Tests. His form continued to soar in 2024, as he piled up 527 runs and snared 48 wickets in 12 matches.

Jadeja also featured in India’s Test series against Australia during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024–25, where he contributed 135 runs and picked up four wickets in three matches.
