Real Madrid vs PSG Player Ratings: Real Madrid 3-1 PSG (3-2 aggregate)

Real Madrid bounced back from being 1-0 down at half-time to scoring three goals inside 20 minutes courtesy of a Karim Benzema hattrick. Sportco lists down the player ratings for both Real Madrid and PSG players below.

This game had everything that we all were anticipating; PSG started the game on the front foot when they found the breakthrough in half-time as Mbappe fired a powerful shot past Thibaut Courtois, who made a few excellent saves in the latter stages of the game. 

It looked like PSG were on the verge of reaching the latter stages of the Champions League, but one of the biggest twists was remaining when Donnarumma blundered in the box, leading to Real Madrid’s first goal.

The goal ignited hopes of the players, and within 15 minutes, the comeback was complete; Madrid leveled the score 2-2 and but there was more to come when PSG lost possession after kick-off resulting in a quick counter-attack by Los Blancos and ending in a back of the net, It was Frenchman Karim Benzema once again completing his hattrick and sending PSG packing from the Champions League.

Thibaut Courtois had a busy night but made excellent saves to keep Real Madrid in the contest. 7/10

Dani Carvajal: Was too slow for Mbappe and was often caught off guard, which resulted in PSG’s goal. Much better going forward in the second half. 6/10. 

Eder Militao: Militao was the heart of Real Madrid’s defence, making fine blocks even after playing with pain in his knee. 8/10. 

David Alaba: Instead of closing down, he allowed Mbappe for the opening goal but later made it up for a goal-saving clearance. 7/10. 

Nacho Fernandez: Couldn’t make an impact as a left-back and was out of position the majority of the time: 5/10. 

Toni Kroos: He was nowhere seen in the first half but did influence in the second half with his constant pressing. Was replaced in the 57' min by Camavinga in midfield. 5/10. 

Luka Modric: Had a tough time settling in the game, but he grew quickly in the second-half and ran the entire Madrid’s midfield being the master orchestrator of the white band. 

Hence, Modric/'s masterclass performance deserves an 8.5/10 player ratings for the game between Real Madrid and PSG. 

Federico Valverde: He had his fair share in the game and supported Real's attacking exploits in the second half. 6/10. 

Marco Asensio: Couldn’t provide much on the wings and was often outclassed by Nuno Mendes. Was subbed off at 57' minutes for Rodrygo. 5/10. 

Karim Benzema: Hero of the Match ⭐The French veteran outshined the current French wizard with a quick-fire second-half hattrick. 

Benzema was a constant threat for the PSG defense and eventually showed his worth in the second half with a hattrick.

The Real Madrid forward is our man of the match and hence our player ratings for Benzema for the 2nd leg between Real Madrid and PSG is a 9.5/10.

Vinicius Junior: Was too quick for the PSG defenders. Hakimi found it hard to cope with his pace and dribbling. 8/10.  

Substitutes: Eduardo Camavinga: 7/10, Rodrygo: 6/10, Lucas Vazquez:  6/10

PSG Player ratings: 

Gianluigi Donnarumma: Made many crucial saves, but that one blunder started Real Madrid’s comeback. 4/10. 

Achraf Hakimi: Took too much time on the ball, did some rash tackles, and failed to keep up with Vinicius in the second half. 5/10. 

Presnel Kimpembe: Brilliantly combined with Marquinhos but lost momentum when Real started their comeback. 5/10.  

Marquinhos: He was decent in the opening stages of the game, but his bad clearance led to two goals, and he also defended poorly. 4/10. 

Nuno Mendes: Combined well with Neymar and Mbappe and influenced going forward but failed to track back few times. 6/10. 

Marco Verratti: He was the heart of PSG’s midfield, controlled the midfield with timely tackles and won back the possession. Just spectacular. 7/10. 

Danilo: Formed a decent tandem with Verratti and Paredes and displayed satisfactory performance. 6/10. 

Leandro Paredes: Received an early booking, but he kept calm and showed his experience on the ball. Was outshined by the brilliant Modric in the second half. 6/10. 

Neymar: Was rarely seen on the ball but combined well with Messi, and provided a great pass which led to first goal of the game for PSG. 7/10.  

Lionel Messi: Always dropping deep and playing as a playmaker, he was impressive but couldn’t get the most out of his performance. Hence, Messi's player ratings for yesterday's game between Real Madrid and PSG is just 6/10. 

Kylian Mbappe: Could have scored a hattrick if it wasn’t for couple of offsides, but did get his name on the scoresheet and looked like he was the only player from PSG who could come on the scoresheet. 

Hence our player ratings for Mbappe for the second leg between Real Madrid and PSG is an 8/10.

Substitutes: Idrissa Gueye: 4/10, Angel Di Maria: 5/10, Julian Draxler: N/A
