Real Sociedad prank fans with Martin Odegaard City's announcement

Football fans had a really crazy time as Real Sociedad pranked their fans with Martin Odegaard to Manchester City announcement.

Despite City’s dramatic defeat to Wolves on Friday evening, Pep Guardiola cleared that the club will not be pursuing anyone in the upcoming January transfer window.

It was not more than 12 hours that Real Sociedad claimed that the attacking midfielder Martin Odegaard would be joining the City squad on loan. The 21-year-old prodigy is on loan currently at Sociedad from parent club Real Madrid, where he is continuing to win the fans’ hearts.

Odegaard was announced as a City player until the end of the season. The statement continued with, "The club wants to thank and offer recognition for the job done by Martin. He has shown great professionalism, dedication and loyalty to this club and we wish him well for the future. We are forced to take this difficult decision in order to avoid possible media comments for the next six months.”

Twitter was set ablaze with the news and there were many tweets expressing shock all around except for the City fans, who managed to have something to celebrate after the disappointing loss.

It was then some people finally figured out after some time that the Spanish equivalent of the UK’s April Fool’s Day is on 28 December.

There was banter among the United fans too, who took no time to criticize Ed Woodward, seeing their neighbors getting deals done so swiftly. However, things cooled down as time passed by while there existed a healthy number of users, who were disappointed by the fact that they were fooled.

Sociedad host Villarreal in La Liga on Sunday, hoping to pick up all three points. That is, with the services of Odegaard, of course.

As for City, well, they will be hoping to continue winning away at Aston Villa as they chase Liverpool in their pursuit of a third consecutive Premier League trophyl.
