Rolex Monte Carlo ATP 1000 Masters Final Preview: Tsitsipas vs Fokina H2H

Final Showdown at Monte Carlo Masters:

It's a match between the defending champion and the underdog this Sunday evening at the Monte Carlo Masters Final. Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Alejandro Davidovic Fokina. Both of them look at their best, already defeating top players in the tournament.

Even after a marathon of a match last night, Tsitsipas had no qualms about defeating his opponent Alexander Zverev.

“ It was hard to resume today after a difficult match last night,” said the Greek player. “ My body was not at 100% but I am very happy with the tennis I produced,”.

His counterpart on the other hand, World No. 3 Alexander Zverev did not look fresh. He too had to tap into his reserves to fight back.

The Greek brushed off his opponent in under 75 minutes and crushed his chances of completing his dream of a triple crown on the clay-court ATP Masters 1000 and closing the gap between Russian counterpart Daniil Medvedev.

Davidovic Fokina on the other hand did not have an easy match against Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov. Ranked 46 in the world, this happens to be his first ATP 1000 finals.

Though Davidovic Fokina had won the first set and had a lead in the second set of 5-3, Dimitrov was not going down easy.

Fighting to stay in the race for the finals, Dimitrov pushed back and won the set in a thrilling tiebreaker.

In the third set, it was pretty evident that Davidovic Fokina had overpowered the former World No. 3. Finishing with an ace on match point was something every tennis player hopes for and the World No. 46 did exactly that.

Stefanos Tsitsipas will be defending his title this evening with Alejandro Davidovic Fokina eyeing his very first tour-level title.

This will be their third meeting with Tsitsipas having a 2-0 lead on Davidovic Fokina. But Tsitsipas will not be underestimating his opponent, for he was the one who had defeated World No.1 Novak Djokovic in the second round as well as David Goffin and Indian Wells Masters Champion Taylor Fritz.
