Manchester United to hand Ole Gunnar Solskjaer mammoth war chest for the summer

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will reportedly be handed a war chest of £274 million in order to bolster his squad in the summer transfer window.

The sensational claim was made by football finance experts Soccerex, who in their latest report suggest that the Red Devils have an unprecedented amount of cash for the summer sales.

Solskjaer has spent around £220 million in the two windows he has had as Old Trafford boss. The figure is significantly higher than spent by any other manager during that time period.

The Red Devils boss has signed Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Daniel James and Bruno Fernandes permanently this season.

The club have also signed Odion Ighalo on loan from China as an emergency cover for an injured Marcus Rashford.

However, it is strongly reported that the Red Devils are set to spend a lot more in the summer.

Manchester United are still battling Chelsea for the signing of Jadon Sancho, who looks set to leave Borussia Dortmund this summer.

Meanwhile, it is also claimed that the Manchester United are also eyeing a double move for James Maddison and Jack Grealish for £160 million.

Ighalo is set to return to his parent club Shanghai Shenhua in China after his Old Trafford loan expires at the end of the season.

Solskjaer is also in the market for a striker to provide more competition to Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial.

Lyon striker Moussa Dembele is also linked with Manchester United, and it is also claimed that Olympique Lyon are willing to sell him for the right price. Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas said: "We already have a certain number of offers for our players for summer.

“We sell the players who want to leave to where they want to go."

However, Chelsea are also set to compete against the Red Devils for the former Celtic striker as well.
