The cricket governing bodies of prominent cricketing nations, along with the International Cricket Council (ICC), have made considerable efforts to advance women's cricket. T20 leagues, including the Women’s Premier League (WPL) and the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL), have injected enthusiasm into the sport and enhanced fan involvement.

Recent developments have also contributed to the improvement in the quality of women’s ODI cricket. Although the Australian and English women's teams continue to be the frontrunners, other teams have progressively closed the gap.

5. New Zealand – 418 vs Ireland, 2018

One of the most outstanding batting displays by New Zealand women came in Dublin against Ireland in June 2018.

Sophie Devine spearheaded the New Zealand batting order, amassing a total of 418 runs with her impressive score of 108. She received strong support from Maddy Green and Amy Satterthwaite, both of whom added valuable contributions with their respective half-centuries. India women registered their highest WODI total in the third WODI of Ireland’s tour of India 2025 in Rajkot.

The hosts commenced the match with an impressive performance, establishing a formidable opening partnership of 233 runs between Pratika Rawal, who scored 154 runs, and Smriti Mandhana, who contributed 135 runs. Mandhana notably adopted an aggressive approach, striking seven sixes throughout her dynamic innings, while Rawal accumulated 20 fours. Richa Ghosh then finished the innings, scoring 59 runs in 42 balls, propelling India to 435 runs.

3. New Zealand – 440/3 vs Ireland, 2018

The Ireland Cricket Team were on the receiving end of a battering from New Zealand when the visitors posted a massive total of 440 in Dublin in 2018.

The opening duo of Amelia Kerr, who scored 232 runs, and Leigh Kasperek, who contributed 113 runs, established a strong base for a substantial total by forming a remarkable partnership of 295 runs for the second wicket. New Zealand secured victory with a commanding margin of 305 runs, and Kerr was awarded Player of the Match for her unprecedented double century.

Lewis partnered with opener Debbie Hockley to forge a formidable 120-run partnership, placing the Kiwis in a dominant position. Subsequently, New Zealand bowled out the Pakistan women's team for a mere 47 runs, culminating in a record victory margin of 408 runs.
