Seven-year old tweet predicting Kobe Bryant’s death goes viral

While the whole world is mourning the untimely demise of the legendary basketball player Kobe Bryant, a tweet has gone viral on the internet which has put everyone in a state of shock.

In a tweet posted seven years back, a twitter user had predicted the death of Bryant. Not only had he predicted the death, he also predicted the manner of death as well.

It is clearly written in the tweet that the NBA legend will die in a helicopter crash.

Here is the tweet –

Normally things like that go viral on social media from time to time. This particular post, however, has some credibility because it was posted on twitter and not on any other social media platform.

Other social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram allow users to edit their posts and change the content at any stage. But, twitter doesn’t allow the users the “edit” option.

There is no doubt about the fact that the content of the tweet predicting Bryant’s death is original, but the question is how can someone predict the manner of someone’s death so accurately?

It seems as if the user was not serious when he posted that tweet. It might have something to do with the fact that Bryant used to travel on the helicopters a lot.

The 41-year old had even mentioned in a couple of his interviews that he liked flying on helicopters.

So, it is possible that the user, who seems to be an avid Basketball viewer, might have predicted the helicopter crash casually and might not have thought that it would turn out to be true someday.

In some of the replies that he has given to the people who have tried to interact with him after the incident, he seems extremely regretful about the tweet.

But, again the question is – while the social media gives each one of us a voice, should we use it to say something which we might have to regret for the rest of our lives?
