Weekly Premier League Round Up: Matchday 17

16th December, Saturday

Premier League crowned off the first half of Matchday 17 as we saw many results with Bournemouth vs Luton getting suspended with the captain of the latter Tom Lockyer getting unconscious in the mid of the second half. Chelsea finally won with Mam Hester City struggling as they saw just one win in their last 5 matches with four draws to their good and their chances of defending the Premier League title slimming as weeks go by.

Bournemouth vs Luton Town

Final score line: 1-1 (suspended)

Scorers: Adebayo (3’) assisted by Doughty

               Solanke (55’)

Match facts: Bournemouth vs Luton Town started pretty well as saw both the teams scoring one each to draw level till 20 minutes past half time with an unprecedented scenario occurring with Luton Town captain Tom Lockyer getting unconscious without any tackle or collision. The game was halted for a very long time with the medical team entering the ground and making sure the captain was alright with him being carried off the pitch and the game getting suspended. After some time news on him came as the player regained consciousness and felt alright.

Chelsea vs Sheffield United

Final score line: 2-0

Scorers: Cole Palmer (54’) assisted Raheem Sterling

Nicholas Jackson (61’) assisted by Cole Palmer

Match facts: Chelsea come back to winning ways with a win over Sheffield United in the Premier League. It feels like Chelsea has had a steal in terms of what they paid for Cole Palmer to get him to play for themselves from Manchester City. The players were influential in scoring one and assisting the other for Nicholas Jackson as they won an easy encounter in the league. Sheffield United looks more than certain to get relegated this time out with only luck to get in their favour if they survive.

Manchester City vs Crystal Palace

Final score line: 2-2

Scorers: Jack Grealish (24’) assisted by Phil Foden

                Rico Lewis (54’)

                J. Mateta (76’) assisted by Jeffery Shlupp

               Micheal Olise (90+5) Penalty

Match facts: More misery for Pep Guardiola and Manchester City as they lost two crucial points from a place where they were certain to earn three in a very comfortable manner. A two-goal lead got neutralised pretty comfortably in the second half as Crystal Palace played one of their best games of the tournament with manager Roy Hodgson not shy of praise for his team in the press conference. Manchester Coty must be feeling the pressure of not having their goal architects Kevin de Bruyne and Erling Haaland in their team with their return not yet specified.

Newcastle vs Fulham

Final score line: 3-0

Scorers: Lewis Miley (57’) assisted by Bruno Guimares

Miguel Almiron (64’) assisted by Anthony Gordon

               Dan Burn (82’)

Match facts: Newcastle registered yet another Victory over their opponents Fulham who never looked to have settled from an early red card received by Mexican forward Raul Jiminez. A reckless challenge saw him receive a yellow that was turned to red after VAR intervention as manager Marco Sipva was seen smiling in anguish. Midfield architect Bruno Guimares was the protagonist from the middle as they scored three past Fulham to go one spot up.

Burnley vs Everton

Final score line: 0-2

Scorers: Andre Onana (19’) assisted by Dwight McNeil

               Micheal Keane (25’)

Match facts: Manager Sean Dyche was welcomed after a long time at his previous home ground where he managed for several years at Burnley. So was Dwight McNeil who Sean Dyche brought with him when he started to manage Everton. The player was really good for his previous side when he used to play under the manager and so is he again a pivotal player vs his former side in the Premier League. Burnley is not getting any better with losses coming for them pretty often as Everton looks to keep their points deduction aside with vital wins over expected opponents.
