Who is Ruben Amorim? Why Sporting coach could be perfect Jurgen Klopp successor at Liverpool

A Portuguese international with over 300 senior appearances and 14 Full Senior International Caps for Portugal Rúben Amorim is very young coach who has taken the footballing world by storm. He has guided sporting back to the big times again and has been in the coaching scene since 2018 when he was just about 33 years old.

Amorim was so good that right from the start teams like, the then 3rd division side Casa Pia were willing to risk fines and Bans as they gave him the reigns of the club even though he officially didn't have the required coaching license. And then he moved on to Braga, initially as an assistant and then went on to be their full time boss helping them demolish Belenenses SAD 7-1 in his first ever game and had guided them to a stellar 19-20 Europa League campaign resulting in him becoming then the third-most expensive manager ever for a managerial transfer worth €10 million .

At Sporting, he continued his good work of working with youngsters promoting the likes of  Daniel Bragança, Gonçalo Inácio, Matheus Nunes, Nuno Mendes and Tiago Tomás  along with unearthing gems like Gyorkes from Coventry,  Diomande from Ivory Coast Pedro Gonçalves from Familcao and has dealt well with departure of key assets like Palhina and Nuno Mendes.

This has demonstrated that he can work under pressure with limited resources and has a youth oriented approach with an eye for building projects  as well as tasting silverware with cup and league titles with the lisbon based side. With time on his side and already having such vast experience, he is one for the future as well as the present.

His man management skills are very good which has been a key area where Klopp has excelled for example backing of Antonio Adán and Ricardo Esgaio after he ended up making 2 crucial errors in separate matches  against Marseille  showed that he wasn't someone who throws his players under the bus. And like Klopp focuses on fostering a strong tight knit team bond and spirit which is very crucial if you want a team to buy into a very demanding high intensity level of football both technically and physically but most important mentally.

He is also known to have an Infectious personality, so it won't be a drastic change from a flexible manager like klopp to a disciplined rigid hardman which would have had a huge change in the club culture as players are humans after all and change in style of dealing with humans has deep rooted psychological impact  which invariably spills onto the pitch.

Liverpool has World class fullbacks in TAA and Roberson  and Amorim's team utilizes an intense pressing style and attempts to win the ball back in the final third which suits Elite fullbacks like these 2 to a tea.

Also like Firmino earlier and Jota/Gapko as of now, Liverpool uses a front 3 with a central striker integral to them as a 9 and wide half wingers like Pedro Gonclaves with Liverpool having a much more Elite version in Salah. He already has attacking systems in play that are similar to that of Liverpool so he won't have any difficulties in adjusting his brand of football on the tactical side too.

Lastly, just like Klopp, he is a pragmatist but also a passion merchant at heart. His appointment would be perfect as all the signs show that his appointment would be like as if Klopp never really left. The DNA he has injected into the club is and would remain well and truly alive with Ruben Amorim. But hindsight is everything apparently, till then the hope is that football wins.
