Egypt 25-man squad for the AFCON 2022 | Mo Salah to spearhead the Pharaohs to glory
Egypt recently announced its squad for the upcoming African Cup of Nations (AFCON 2022). Carlos Queiroz, the Egyptian manager, has announced the 25-man squad for the Pharaohs, who will compete in Africa’s highly recognized tournament starting from Jan 9.
Egypt has been drawn in Group D, where they will face Nigeria, Guinea-Bissau and Sudan. The Pharaohs will be led by Liverpool talisman Mohamed Salah who has been in a rich vein of form this season having scored abundant goals in all competitions.
Besides him, Mohamed Elneny, Arsenal’s midfielder, will dictate the game from midfield. Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet of Aston Villa is another vital player who has been called up by Carlos Queiroz.
Egypt are one of the favourites going into this tournament as they are the record holders of the continental cup with seven trophies.
However, they will face Nigeria, one of Africa’s high-profile teams, and the battle will be high-voltage. And both nations are looking to secure the top spot and go further in the tournament. We now look at the 25-man Egypt squad for the AFCON 2022:
