Senegal 27-man squad for AFCON 2022 | Sadio Mane | Edouard Mendy
Senegal has announced a robust squad for the AFCON 2022 and intends on winning the tournament this time after losing the African Cup of Nations twice, first in 2002 losing to Cameroon 3 - 2 on penalties, then 1-0 to Algeria in 2019.
Premier League star players Sadio Mane and Edouard Mendy have been drafted into the squad and carry the hopes of millions of Senegalese fans. Both will be the key to winning the African Cup of Nations after finishing runners-up in the last edition in Egypt 2019.
However, other top-class players, captain Kalidou Koulibaly and Ismaila Sarr will be joining the squad. Coach Aliou Cisse has selected 27 players for the competition.
Senegal have drawn in group B along with Zimbabwe, Guinea and Malawi. Senegal looks favorite to win the group game. They will first play Zimbabwe in Bafoussam on Jan 10 and later Guinea and Malawi in the next round. We look at the 27-man Senegal squad for the 2022 AFCON tournament.
