Virat Kohli rested as India pick T20I and Test squads for the series against Bangladesh

After a thumping 3-0 series win against South Africa in the Test series, India now face their neighbours Bangladesh for their next assignment in the home season.

The 'Men in Blue' will host the Tigers for a three-match T20I series followed by a couple of Test matches at home. The T20I series is slated to begin from November 3, while the Test affair between the two teams will commence from the 14th.

Despite the news surrounding the build-up to their visit of India for all the wrong reasons, the tour is expected to proceed as usual, with Bangladesh expected to arrive in time for the series.

To commence India's preparation for the upcoming series, the selectors and the Indian captain along with Rohit Sharma, met today at the BCCI headquarters to select the Indian squad for the forthcoming series.

In one of the major highlights from the team announcement, Virat Kohli was rested for the T20I series as Rohit will lead the troops in his absence as the hosts look to settle upon a combination for the T20I World Cup next year.

There were a couple of other major developments from the T20I squad apart from Kohli's notable omission.

The Mumbai all-rounder Shivam Dube received his maiden T20I call-up as Sanju Samson made a deserving return to the Indian setup after a gap of five long years.

Both the youngsters were rewarded for their spectacular performances in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy. While Samson was in the news for his record 212* against Goa, Dube remained the standout act for Mumbai both with the bat and the ball throughout the competition.

Also, Yuzvendra Chahal made a return to the shortest format after missing out on the last two series against West Indies and the Proteas.

Fast bowler Shardul Thakur replaced the unavailable Navdeep Saini to find a place in the squad along with Khaleel Ahmed and Deepak Chahar as the other two pacers.
