Manchester City 1-0 Chelsea Player ratings Today | Kevin De Bruyne

Kevin De Bruyne's late strike sent Manchester City 13 points clear at the top of the table as they beat Chelsea 1-0 at Etihad Stadium. Sportco provides player ratings for the early kick off between Manchester City and Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium.

Manchester City started the game with capitalizing on the possession, as they controlled the entire game and kept threatening Chelsea. 

However, the finishing was missing, which kept the score level until De Bruyne's late strike. Nevertheless, the Blues also had their chances but, couldn't make most of it.

Chelsea had very few chances on the ball compared to City’s greater urgency and possession. However, the Citizen deserved to win this game, and it came all down to former Chelsea player Kevin De Bruyne who produced a moment of magic when he curled the ball in from outside the box.

Although Manchester City could have won 2-0, as Jack Grealish missed a brilliant opportunity in the game’s opening stages. We now look at how the player performed.

Ederson: Kept himself ready for any danger and denied Lukaku with an unorthodox approach. 6/10

Kyle Walker: The Left-back did his role very well and made some important runs in the attack to trouble Chelsea’s Alonso. 7/10

John Stones: Was decent in the game and wasn’t unfazed. 6/10

Aymeric Laporte: Played with aplomb today and helped in the build-up of De Bruyne’s goal, also blocked Werner’s effort from close range. 8/10

Joao Cancelo: Commendable performance, with characteristic reverse passes. 6/10

Bernardo Silva: Full of energy and made total 4 ball recoveries, his impact on the pitch is always top-notch. 8/10  

Rodri: A brick wall for City’s midfield, allowing Bernardo Silva and De Bruyne to push further forward. Under him, Manchester City selfdom made any defensive error. 7/10

Kevin De Bruyne Man of the Match: World-class midfielder with an excellent finish. Kept testing Kepa with his powerful shots and finally got the reward. Hence, De Bruyne's player ratings for the Manchester City vs Chelsea game deserves a 9/10

Raheem Sterling: Was a threat to Alonso and made darting runs with his pace. Should have scored a goal. 7/10

Phil Foden: Should have played in midfield or wings, wasn’t influential in the attacking third. 5/10

Kepa Arrizabalaga: He gave his best and yielded an excellent save to deny Grealish but was unlucky not to thwart De Bruyne. 6/10 

Antonio Rudiger: Always brimming with confidence and dominated Grealish on the left flank. 7/10

Thiago Silva: Great reading of the game and controlled Chelsea’s defense. 6/10

Malang Sarr: Alonso failed to keep Sterling on the leash but Sarr was impressive to counter Sterling’s pace with his timely tackles. 6/10

Cesar Azpilicueta: Tuchel needs to find Azpilicueta’s replacement, as he failed to cause any threat with his gradual runs and also slowed the attack down. 5/10

N’Golo Kante: Was not at his best today, and his late tackle on De Bruyne proved costly. Hence, Kante's player ratings for today's game between Manchester City and Chelsea deserves just a 5/10

Mateo Kovacic: Exceptional play in the midfield and managed to break City’s play and counter-attacks, enjoyed mixed success with his risky role. 7/10

Marcos Alonso: He had a busy day today and was tasked to conclude Sterling but failed miserably. 4/10

Christian Pulisic: Struggled to stamp his authority against Manchester City’s defenders. 4/10
