Napoli beat Chelsea to sign talented Lille Striker Victor Osimhen

Victor Osimhen is all set to seal a move to Napoli. According to reports going around France, Chelsea manager Frank Lampard had identified him as an ideal number 9 and wanted him at Stamford Bridge by all means possible.

The 21-year old seemed to be a target for the Blues but the Nigerian International has decided to sign a lucrative deal with Napoli instead.

The negotiations have already reached the final stage. Both parties have agreed on a fee valued at 74 million. The news was first confirmed by football journalist Fabrizio Romano, who has stated the player is just one more step from joining his new club.

Personal terms have been agreed and he has been offered a five-year contract that keeps him at Napoli till 2025. It is also rumored that Manchester United tried to hijack the deal by calling the player's agent at the last minute.

Osimhen was on top form for Lille in the discontinued Ligue 1 season. He had registered 13 goals and six assists in just 27 appearances,which is indeed a great record.

Polish striker Arkadiusz Milik is reportedly poised to sign for Serie A rivals Juventus. Coach Gennaro Gattuso has rejuvenated a Napoli team that was left in shambles during the tenure of former manager Carlo Ancelotti.

Gattuso is slowly cementing his status as a good gaffer at Naples. Having defeated Juventus in the Coppa Italia final, he is determined to make the Gli Azzuri as a dominant footballing force in Europe.

The signing of Victor Osimhen will strengthen the team's attack for sure. The club have been already preparing for the departures of first-team players such as Kalidou Koulibally, Allan, and Dries Mertens.

The transfer has now proved that Napoli are ready to cash in to bring some fresh faces to the San Paolo Stadium.
