Serie A | Roma vs Lazio | Lineup | Team News & Prediction

The Serie A season is all set for the 157th installment of the ‘Derby Della Capitale,’ the premium capital affair between AS Roma and Lazio as they face off on Sunday (November 6).

The two giants of the Italian game will look to gain supremacy in the standings with both clubs only separated by just one pint in the Serie A standings. A win for either side will see them take the fourth spot in the table.

  • Last season both teams won their respective home fixtures as Lazio first eat Roma 3-2 in September 2021
  • Jose Mourinho’s side then won the reverse fixture in March by 3-0 and would later finish sixth
  • Lazio finished above Roma last season while Jose Mourinho’s side would win the Europa Conference league to qualify for the Europa League

Roma vs Lazio Head to Head

The fixtures in the recent season have favored the home sides as both teams look solid at the back and will look to continue that trend. Not since April 2017 has either team lost a home match when Lazio won 3-1 towards the business end of the campaign. That defeat also happened to be Roma’s last home defeat against Lazio in front of their crowd.

While there is no clear favorite in the fixture, Roma have dominated history with 56 wins in 156 matches while Lazio have edged their opponents on 40 occasions in the Italian top flight. The teams have also met in 20 Coppa Italia matches, where again it is the Red side that has dominated the proceedings.

Roma vs Lazio 2022-23 Season so far

So far it has been a roller-coaster ride for Roma who advanced to the knockout stage of the Europa League in the midweek. Jose’s side however is destined to land a tough draw as they will face one of the Champions League dropouts in the form of Barcelona, Sporting Lisbon, and others. Domestically they have made a mixed start as they have won eight and lost three matches in 12 Serie A games.

Lazio, unlike Roma, had a night to forget in Europe as their 1-0 defeat against Feyenoord condemned them to third place in the group and therefore exited the competition. They will now continue their trade in the Europa Conference League with high expectations of winning the competition. In the Serie A, they have 24 points from 12 matches and have a joint-best defensive record that has seen them concede just eight goals.
