Three Indian cricketers who were part of ICC Champions Trophy title wins in 2013 and 2025

Team India made history as they went on to become the first team to win the three ICC Champions Trophy titles. They defeated New Zealand in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 held in Dubai, marking their second ICC title victory within a nine-month period.

It was the second ICC title for Rohit Sharma as captain. Also it was India's third consecutive appearance in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy. India won the 2013 edition under the leadership of MS Dhoni, while they failed to win the trophy in 2017 under Virat Kohli’s captaincy.

Some of the players from the current team were part of that win in 2013 when India beat England in the final to lift the title. Those players also played in the 2025 edition.

In this article, let’s look at three such players who have been part of the Indian winning side in the 2013 and 2025 editions of ICC Champions Trophy.

1. Rohit Sharma

Captain Rohit Sharma was instrumental in India's victory in the 2013 tournament, where he finished as the fourth highest run-scorer, scoring 177 runs. Having previously won the title as a player, he has now achieved the same success in the 2025 edition as the captain of the team.

His knock of 76 runs in the final was one key reason that India won in 2025. Hence, he has now become the first Indian player to win the ICC Champions Trophy title both as a player and captain.

2. Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli played a crucial role in the final of the 2013 edition by scoring 43 runs off 34 balls and scored 176 runs in the entire edition. His performance in the final was instrumental in propelling India to a total of 129/7, which ended up as a winning score in a 20-over-per-side contest.

In the 2025 edition, he ended as the second-highest run-scorer for India, scoring 218 runs in five innings. Virat also won two Man of the Match awards for his performances against Pakistan and in the semi-final against Australia.

3. Ravindra Jadeja

Ravindra Jadeja is the third player to have played in both teams that won in the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013 and 2025. Notably, he delivered an outstanding performance in the 2013 final, earning the Player of the Match award for his contribution of 33 runs off 25 balls and his bowling figures of 2/ 24.

Jadeja played a crucial role in the 2025 edition as well. He took five wickets with the ball and was very economical. Jadeja also hit the winning runs for India in the final and won his third ICC title.
