US Open 2021 Unique Stats #1: 18 match winning streak!

The World no.1 Novak Djokovic has been finding the word 'loss' to be a crime as once again, the Serb made easy work of Nishikori to storm his way into the R of 16.

The 34-year old now has an impressive tally of 18 consecutive wins against the Japanese and he is also now on a 24-match win streak in the Grand slams. Currently tied at 20 Grand Slams with Roger and Nadal, can the Serbian overtake the tally to reach the top?

US Open 2021 Unique Stats #2: Youngest in the competition

The 18-year old Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz Garfia set the US Open ablaze by shocking the hot favorite Stefanos Tsitsipas in a five-set thriller.

Carlos Alcaraz is now the youngest player in the Men’s singles draw and also stands to be the youngest player to make it to the Round of 16 of the Grandslam since Ukraine’s Andrei Medvedev, who was just 17 when he made it to the R16 of the French Open in 1992.

US Open 2021 Unique Stats #3: 140 years

For the first time in the 140 years history of the US Open, the tournament will see two Italians be part of the Round of 16.

Both Matteo Berrettini and youngster Jannik Sinner seem to be in great form. Can either of them become the first Italian to win the US Open? Will they be able to play through another four matches?

US Open 2021 Unique Stats #4: 1995

The Dutch youngster Boltic Van de Zandschulp, Germans Peter Gojowczyk, and Oscar Otte all managed to advance to the R of 16 after playing the qualifiers and this means that for the first time in the history of the Grandslam since 1995, we will witness three qualifiers fight it out in the R of 16. Is it the absence of the two starlets that has paved way for other talents?

US Open 2021 Unique Stats #5: 49 Aces

The matchup between Andrey Rublev and local boy Frances Tiafoe turned out to be a feast for the viewers as it was the best exhibition of what happens when two strong servers lock horns.

The showdown saw a staggering number of 49 aces, Rublev led the count with 25 aces as opposed to Tiafoe's tally of 24.

However, it did not matter at the end for the American as he finished on the winning side and will now face Canadian youngster- Felix Auger-Aliassime in the R of 16.

US Open 2021 Unique Stats #6: 43

The 43 ranked Shelby Rogers stunned the tennis world by defeating the world no.1, Ashleigh Barty. In the process, the American ensured that she kept the hopes of the hosts alive in the Women’s section.

The win also marked her first victory against a top 10 since her win against Serena Williams last year. It was also the first time the 28-year old managed to defeat the World no.1.

She will now face the wild card Raducanu in the R of 16. Rogers will start as the favorite against the World No.150.

US Open 2021 Unique Stats #7: Miss Consistency!

The 20-year old young sensation Iga Swiatek has been in exceptional form ever since she won the French Open 2020 title.

The Polish tennis star now holds a unique record as she stands to be the only woman player in 2021 to have made it to the fourth round of all four Grand slams this year.

This does prove her consistency level has been spectacular but can she convert her run into the biggest prize? She will now face Swiss star Belinda Bencic in the R of 16 of the US Open 2021.

Which of the stats did you find the most interesting? Do you think Djokovic can create history by becoming the first male player to win 21 Grand slams? Do you think there is any player in the current lot who can get the better of the Serbian? Do let us know your thoughts in the comments.
