Grand Slam No. 21 Loading…⏳

As the year 2021 comes to an end, Novak Djokovic finishes as the top-ranked tennis player at year-end. As we welcome 2022, it brings some great competition, great matches and great players.

However, the main question is who will be the first to reach 21 Grand Slams first? Will it be Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal or Novak Djokovic?

The Big 3 🐐

Roger Federer

Tennis won’t be complete without the “Greatest of all Time” Roger Federer. When Roger Federer plays Tennis, the whole world gasps incessantly and watches while holding its collective breath.

The Swiss maestro is currently ranked No. 16 in the world by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP). He has won 20 Grand Slam men's singles titles, an all-time record shared with Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic.

Roger Federer has been world No. 1 in the ATP rankings a total of 310 weeks – including a record 237 consecutive weeks – and has finished as the year-end No. 1 five times. Federer has won 103 ATP singles titles, the second most of all-time behind Jimmy Connors, including a record six ATP Finals.

Rafael Nadal

Rafael Nadal is currently ranked world No. 6 by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), and the 'King of Clay' has been ranked No.1 in the ATP rankings for 209 weeks, and has finished as the year-end No. 1 five times.

The Spaniard has won 20 Grand Slam men's singles titles, an all-time record shared with Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic. His 13 French Open titles in particular is a record at any tournament.

Nadal's dominance on clay is also highlighted by his winning 62 of his 88 ATP singles titles on clay, including 26 of his 36 Masters titles. His 81 consecutive wins on clay is the longest single-surface win streak in the Open era.

Novak Djokovic

The reigning World No. 1, Novak Djokovic has been at the top of ATP rankings for a record total of 352 weeks and has finished as ATP year-end No.1 on a record seven occasions.

He has won an all-time joint record 20 Grand Slam men's singles titles. Overall, he has won 86 ATP singles titles, including a record nine Australian Open titles and a joint record 36 Masters events.

Djokovic is the only man in the Open Era to achieve a double career Grand Slam and complete a non-calendar Grand Slam. He is also the only player to complete the career Golden Masters on the ATP Tour, which he has done twice.

The Race for the 21st Grand Slam Title

As the Australian Open is the first Grand Slam coming in January 2022 we expect the best players to step up and put in some game to make it exciting.

Since Roger Federer will not be participating in the Australian Open this year, it increases the chances of Nadal and Djokovic to get the Grand Slam.

Even in these tough times which we are facing Rafael Nadal has tested positive for COVID-19 makes it doubt for him to play in the Australian Open.

This makes Novak Djokovic the favourite to reach 21 grand slams first, but the young players Zverev, Medvedev, Theim etc won't make it easy for him.

After the Australian Open, we have the French Open where Rafael Nadal is the king. So it is expected that he might be the player to win his 21st Grand Slam. Even Rafael Nadal can be the player to win 21 Grand Slams if Novak fails to win in the Australian Open.

Following the French Open, we have Wimbledon where Federer and Djokovic both are magnificent. But Federer has the upper hand on grass and might win his 21st Slam.

So after these big stages, we might see all 3 players with 21 Grand slam titles or one of them in the lead. These 3 grand slams can set the rhythm for U.S. Open to make it more interesting among the players.

Predictions: First to reach 21 Grand Slams

In the past few years, Novak has dominated in all the Grand Slams and won't be surprising if he becomes the first to reach 21 Grand Slams.

Novak Djokovic to become the first player to win 21 Grand Slams.
