Dusan Vlahovic: Player Profile | Stats 2021-22 | Transfer News | Contract Details

Not a day goes without Fiorentina’s striker, Dusan Vlahovic being linked with top European clubs.

So, who is Dusan Vlahovic?

He is a Serbian striker born in Belgrade, where he started playing football and embarked on a professional journey. Dusan Vlahovic joined his country’s recognized club Partizan and made his debut on 27 February 2016 at just 16-year-old.

He subsequently became the youngest scorer when he scored in a 3-2 win over Radnik Surdulica on 2 April.

At just 18-years of age, the rumours were in the air that the young striker would move to England, however, a deal was struck with the Italian side Fiorentina in the 2018-19 season.

Dusan Vlahovic scored a handful of goals in his first season and rarely got playing time in the team making only one Serie-A appearance. However, after that, his performance started to dilute, and it looked as if he was one of those players who is a one-season wonder.

The Serb became a permanent player by next season, making 30th appearances and scoring only six goals.

Although he was still nurturing, Vlahovic quickly burst into the scene after netting once in 10 games but later went on a goal-scoring spree by late December, which is yet to ease up.

The centre-forward notched 28 goals in 39 matches by 16 December 2020, becoming the youngest player to score more than 20 goals in a single season since Gabriel Batistuta.

Erling Haaland and Robert Lewandowski are the only players in European’s top five leagues to have scored more than Vlahovic’s 25 goals in 2021.

After Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland, Vlahovic is the only third player to have scored 20 times in the calendar year to date.

Recently Vlahovic equalled Cristiano Ronaldo’s record of most Serie-A goals in a calendar year (31 goals in 2020) in a 2-2 draw against Sassuolo.

The Serbian striker has exploded into life since 2020 and has shown no signs of stopping, which has led to interest from my Premier League clubs.

The Serbian striker contract ends in 2021, so where we will see him next?

Dusan Vlahovic would want to move out from Florence, and he will probably look for a top club that can compete in big stages.

The 21-year-old has been linked to many top Premier League clubs, and Manchester City, Tottenham, Liverpool and Arsenal are among them. All these top Premier League clubs are in desperate need of a striker.

Antonio Conte would be familiar with him as he saw him playing in the Serie A against Inter Milan when Conte was in charge of Inter. And he could be a perfect replacement for Harry Kane at Tottenham.

Arsenal would also be looking for a replacement for the imminent departure of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who looks set to leave the club after disciplinary action was laid on the Gabon International.

Dusan Vlahovic has been touted as a potential Manchester City striker, and they will be ready to splurge money on him. There have been other hosts of clubs monitoring the 21-year-old move.

However, nothing is certain currently, and the Serbian striker has enjoyed his life in Florence. But Fiorentina will soon sell if the right buyer comes to their doorstep.
