Manchester City keeping tabs on Bayern Munich's German sensation

German Bundesliga holders Bayern Munich are believed to be still keen on signing Leroy Sane this summer as per reports in Germany.

Meanwhile, Manchester City are eyeing a shock move for Serge Gnabry from the Bavarian giants.

German winger Gnabry has been in flying form in the Bundesliga in what is proving to be the breakthrough season of his career.

It is understood Pep Guardiola has personally watched the 24-year-old on occasions this term.

He has also sent his scouts to keep tabs on the ex-Arsenal winger and they all have nothing but positive for the 24-year-old.

And Gnabry is seen as a potential long-term replacement for Sane, who is wanted by Bayern the other way.

It is understood that Manchester City could propose a swap deal but Bayern are likely to be against the idea as Gnabry has been one of their best players this season.

Manchester City are keen to bring in a wide forward during the next transfer window as they look to improve on their below-par season.

Bayern looked all set to sign Sane in January and last summer, but his long-term injury problems scuppered any potential move.

The German international has made just one appearance this season, in the Community Shield and suffered an anterior cruciate ligament fracture.

Manchester City have been desperately trying to get the 24-year-old to sign a new contract at the Etihad.

However, he has so far refused and will see his current deal expire in the summer of 2021.

With so little time left on his deal, and with no sign of a breakthrough in contract talks, an exit at the end of the season appears inevitable.

A huge problem over any potential deal involving Gnabry and Sane though is the two-year Champions League ban handed out by UEFA last week.

The Citizens could lose some of their megastars due to this and landing big players could prove to be very difficult right now.

Manchester City have also identified Leon Bailey of Bayer Leverkusen as an alternative to Gnabry while Mikel Oyarzabal is also seen as an option.

However, the Spaniard is likely to command a hefty fee around £70m which is a bit too high.
