Lyon vs OGC Nice: Match Preview- Ligue 1, 2019/20

Come this Saturday, struggling giants Olympique Lyon will cross swords with their fellow domestic counterparts, OGC Nice in a battle of the bottom-half aces.

With only three points standing between the teams ranging from the fifth to the 15th position of the table, it will be a great encounter to witness.

With just one point separating these two sides, a victory for Lyon will catapult them into the top half of the league. On the other hand, a win for Nice will fortify their title ambitions.

Lyon will be coming into this fixture, trying to recover from a defeat at the hands of Marseille a couple of weeks back. Nice, on the contrary, will be taking the ground, after a draw in their previous encounter against Bordeaux.

Last meeting between these two sides

Nice has stood tall over Lyon in their last two meetings, where they managed to prise out narrow victories by solitary goals.

Another interesting fact between these two sides that may heavily prod a Nice fan will be the fact that Nice has never won thrice in a row against Lyonnais.

A probable draw should be the ultimate outcome if not for some individual magic

Despite Nice leading the contest at this point in time, Lyon has had better form in terms of numbers. With 20 goals bagged and 13 conceded from 13 games played, their attacking front has been way more active and vicious.

Their defensive feats have not been that remarkable and can be a major sock on the jaw for their top five aspirations. With Moussa Dembele and Memphis Depay leading the charge, Lyon has all the ingredients of unleashing havoc upon their opponents.

Nice's number games haven't really been in their favour as they have scored 16 times from 13 games and let slip of 19 goals.

With a goal difference of -3, they will probably like to plug their defence with major reinforcements. Given the shooting flair of Depay, their back-line will have to keep a constant eye on the Dutch striker. Evan Guessand will be the marksman for Nice and will be responsible to fire their top-five hopes into a real contention.
