How the weather in Manchester can cost Manchester United a potential transfer

Barcelona's Ivan Rakitic is not allowed by his family to move to Manchester United. Rakitic is asked to only consider offers coming from France and Italy.

Rakitic joined Barcelona in 2014. He was the first choice in the Blaugrana midfield before the arrival of Frenkie de Jong this season.

Rakitic has been linked with Manchester United in the 2020 winter transfer window. The rumor has sparked since he has not been getting the chance to perform regularly in Barcelona.

The presence of Frenkie de Jong proves to make Rakitic expendable from the Barcelona starting lineup. Rakitic has only started once in Barcelona first eight matches in the 2019-20 season. In fact, he has played a mere 156 minutes this whole season.

Even though Manchester United is said to be interested in Rakitic, his family will not approve his decision to move to England, especially Manchester. The city's weather is cited as the main reason why Rakitic's family members object the move. There is no denying that Manchester is a rainy city.

While the climate is a curse for Manchester United, it is a blessing for Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Internazionale as this gives them bigger odds to bring in Rakitic in January.

PSG actually had the chance to land Rakitic in the 2019 summer transfer window, but the deal failed because the Croatian wanted to fight for his place in Barcelona.

On the other side, Rakitic’s move to Juventus is unlikely to happen. The Old Lady have an abundance of midfielders at the moment so Rakitic is afraid of not getting enough minutes in Turin.

Barcelona reportedly will not stop the 31-year-old from leaving Camp Nou. They are ready to sell him to any club who is willing to pay around 35 million Euros. The Croatian midfielder has won four La Liga and Copa del Rey titles along with a Champions League title with the Blaugrana.
