Transfer News: Matthijs de Ligt officially joins Bayern Munich from Juventus!

Bayern Munich have officially confirmed the signing of Juventus and Netherlands defender Matthijs de Ligt for a reported fee of £68m.

The German giants haven’t waited too much long after the departure of star striker Robert Lewandowski and made a statement signing.

The 22-year-old, de Ligt, has signed a five-year deal at Bayern Munich which runs until 2027. But the big question is will Ronaldo or Kane join him?

Bayern look to reinforce their defensive prowess

Only 24 hours had passed since the departure of Robert Lewandowski before De Ligt made his way to the Allianz Arena.

The Dutch defender is one of the decorated defenders in the present time and will serve as the perfect replacement for David Alaba, who had departed for Real Madrid last season.

The transfer of Matthijs de Ligt now means that Bayern have made three signings from the world famous academy of Ajax.

De Ligt was Ajax’s captain when he led his team to the semifinal of the Champions League in 2019 and quite the Dutch champions for Juventus.

Bayern had earlier signed Ryan Gravenberch and Noussair Mazraoui from Ajax, while Sadio Mane was the biggest signing of the season so far when he joined from Liverpool.

Bayern to continue German dominance

As things stand the record German champions have won 10 Bundesliga titles in a row and will try to continue their dominance.

Bayern’s nearest title rivals at the moment are Borussia Dortmund, while RB Leipzig are also one of the contenders. However, looking at the reinforcements in the team, Bayern look a step forward and look like will continue their dominance.

Who will be the next signing for Bayern: Kane or Ronaldo?

From the look of things, Bayern aren’t done yet in the transfer window and could further bolster the team.

According to speculations, Bayern are interested in Cristiano Ronaldo while they have gone step ahead and confirmed their interest in Tottenham striker Harry Kane.

While Ronaldo has been linked away from Manchester United, Kane remains a target too far as he is targeting a season with Spurs.
