1) Real Madrid 1-1 Chelsea (19 May 1971)

19 May of 1971 witnessed the first rendezvous of the two European giants in the final of the European Cup Winners' Cup. Chelsea broke the deadlock in the second half, with a crisp Peter Osgood finish as Chelsea went ahead.

However, it was a Chelsea man who in a way appeared on the other side of the scoresheet as well, with Ignacio Zoco capitalized on what was a mistake from the Chelsea backline.

After the teams failed to get a conclusive result, the game was rescheduled for a replay, something we don't see now due to the arrival of penalty shootouts.

2) Chelsea 2-1 Real Madrid (21 May 1971)

21st May 2021 saw Chelsea and Real Madrid meet again for the replay with the hope that a winner would be announced on the day.

Peter Osgood found the net again for the blues, but the winner was scored by John Dempsey, whose error had caused Chelsea to concede late in the earlier game between the two teams.

Real Madrid tried their best but no one other than Sebastian Fleitas managed to penetrate the Chelsea backline.

To put into perspective the timeline, both the current managers of Real Madrid and Chelsea were not even born when their clubs played each other in 1971.

3) Chelsea 1-0 Real Madrid (28 August 1998)

It was the occasion of the 1998 UEFA Super Cup. Real Madrid came into the fixture boasting their Champions League title, while Chelsea had managed to have a claim on the UEFA Cup the same year.

Gus Poyet was the man of the moment on the big day as his goal was the only one scored in the game as the Blues led by Gianluca Vialli prevailed over Guus Hiddink's Real Madrid.

Like we mentioned before, 1998 was a fruitful year for the fans at Stamford as Chelsea won three trophies in that year.

The latest game between them was played at the Alfredo Di Stefano stadium and Chelsea hit the ground running with an early goal by Christian Pulisic.

Zinedine Zidane vs Thomas Tuchel could've taken another road as Chelsea managed to break loose quite a few times, but they were not as clinical to capitalize on the chances.

Real Madrid grew into the game slowly and after toiling hard, Karim Benzema equalized just 15 minutes after his side conceded with a powerful shot past Edouard Mendy.

The game after the goal was pretty even but Real Madrid would look to make the most of the second leg as more away goals from their opponents would come in handy.

5)Chelsea 2-0 Real Madrid (6 May 2021)

It was a Thomas Tuchel masterclass performance against Zidane's Real Madrid in the second-leg at Stamford Bridge. The Blues always looked in control of the game without much threat from the Real Madrid forwards.

Benzema did provide a couple of scares for Chelsea fans in the first half with both his efforts saved by the ever-impressive Eduoard Mendy. Timo Werner finally scored the all crucial first goal of the match in the 28th minute to give Chelsea a 1-0 lead.

Chelsea could have scored 3-4 goals in the second half if not for the tall Belgian, Thibaut Courtois. Real Madrid never quite get behind the Chelsea defense in the second half as Mason Mount sealed the tie for the London side in the 85th minute of the game.
