FIFA 21 TOTY Revealed: Messi exclusion from TOTY XI for the first time

The FIFA 21 TOTY XI was revealed by EA late last night. Along with this, EA has also given us the rating for the attacking 3, Lewandowski, Ronaldo & Mbappe. The biggest surprise is that there is no space for Lionel Messi in the TOTY XI. 

After counting over 10 million votes from the fans & FIFA community, EA have finally shortlisted & revealed the top 11, who will make up the FIFA 21 Team of the year for 2020. The list includes 4 Premier League players, but none of the Premier League strikes have made the list. 

Earlier this week, the voting was finally closed & the first player who was revealed from the TOTY was Kevin de Bruyne. However, the biggest surprise in 2020 FIFA TOTY XI was the fact that there was no room Lionel Messi. 

Ever since EA began the TOTY in its Ultimate Team mode in FIFA 09, Messi has always been in the TOTY XI squad. But, this year, for the first time in over a decade, Messi misses out on this glory. It does not come as a surprise. Mbappe has been phenomenal this year, and the fans have made the right call by bringing him into the FIFA 21 TOTY for 2020. 

The bigger surprise here is that only one player from La Liga made the final cut, and it is Real Madrid's formidable center-back Sergio Ramos. Here is a look at the final list of players who are part of EA's Team of the Year.
