Al Mohammadi Reappointed as FIFA Beach Soccer Committee Ambassador

Walid Al Mohammadi, the captain of the UAE beach soccer national team, conveyed his pride in being reappointed as an ambassador for FIFA's Beach Soccer Committee for the eighth consecutive year. He emphasized the international recognition of the sport, particularly within the UAE.

He was appointed as the sport's Middle East ambassador in acknowledgment of his significant contributions to the UAE national team across various regional, continental, and international competitions.

Thanking the committee for their continued trust, Al Mohammadi emphasized the responsibility to grow the sport further. He intends to enhance beach soccer by organizing competitions, establishing youth training initiatives, and encouraging participation among young men and women.

Al Mohammadi observed that beach soccer is experiencing a surge in global popularity, especially following the UAE's hosting of the 2024 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Dubai. He also indicated that Africa is expected to host the event in the near future, highlighting the sport's rising appeal.

The UAE national team is currently engaged in training in Thailand as they prepare for the 11th AFC Beach Soccer Asian Cup, scheduled to take place from March 20 to 30 in Pattaya, Thailand. This tournament will also serve as a qualifying event for the 2024 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Seychelles.

Al Mohammadi highlighted that the UAE national team is ranked first in Asia, first in the Arab world, and sixth globally, one of its highest rankings ever, achieved again after 2014. The team has also welcomed bright new talent following the recent World Cup.
