Senegal book quarter-final spot with Italy at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2025

Senegal completed a perfect group stage campaign at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, collecting all nine points from their three matches. They were prolific in front of goal, netting 17 times and conceding seven. Their impressive form has earned them a quarter-final meeting with Italy, runners-up at the 2024 edition of the tournament.

Should Senegal overcome the Italians, they will go on to face the winner of the Belarus vs. Iran quarter-final. The remaining ties see Portugal take on Japan, while defending champions Brazil will face Spain in a heavyweight clash.

In Senegal’s most recent outing, Mandione Diagne, Sidy Fall, and Ninou Diatta each scored twice, while Sanou Thiaw added another in a commanding performance. This marks the sixth time Senegal have reached the quarter-finals in 10 appearances at the global finals, with their best result being a fourth-place finish in Russia in 2021. Remarkably, this is also the first time they’ve won all three group matches at a World Cup.

Elsewhere on Tuesday, Brazil emphatically beat Oman 11-1, with Catarino netting a hat-trick. Brendo and Benjamin Jr. each scored twice, while Edson Hulk, Rodrigo, and Thanger also found the net.

Italy recorded a rare clean sheet in a dominant 5-0 win over El Salvador — one of the biggest shutout victories in tournament history. However, it still falls short of Senegal’s historic 0-0 win over Ecuador in 2017 — the only goalless match in FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup history.

In the final match of the day, Spain edged past Tahiti with a 7-4 victory, rounding out a thrilling day of beach soccer.
