The match began with fireworks as Leandro Casapieri delivered an outstanding performance between the posts, denying Lucão from the penalty spot and acrobatically saving a spectacular bicycle kick from Brendo. Not to be outdone, Brazil's Bobo stepped up to block Alessandro Remeni’s penalty, before Casapieri once again dazzled with a save to stop Rodrigo after an audacious piece of trickery that nearly produced one of the tournament’s greatest-ever goals.

The deadlock was finally broken when Mauricinho capitalised on a defensive mix-up, poking the ball home to give Brazil the lead. Italy responded early in the second period through Tomasso Fazzini, who brought the match level with a well-taken finish.

With both sides pushing for a winner in the third period, Bobo produced a stunning fingertip save to deny Italy goalkeeper Gean Pietro's long-range volley. Moments later, Mauricinho came inches from scoring a wonder goal with an overhead kick that whistled just wide.

But the Brazil No11 wasn’t to be denied. With time running out, Mauricinho slid in to finish from close range, sealing a memorable victory in a match full of drama and world-class beach soccer.
