Manchester United vs Chelsea: H2H Stats

The Premier League seems to be ready for yet another high-profile H2H battle as Manchester United visit Stamford Bridge for the first time since Thomas Tuchel took over as manager of Chelsea.

The sides have quite a history in the Premier League and its Chelsea who have had the most recent success in terms of both, a domestic cup and the Premier League.

However, when we look at how the sides have fared when going H2H against each other, the competition is rigid with barely any gap between the two.

Manchester United have 12 triumphs out of 32 matches, while Chelsea have 11 wins, nine being drawn. But it is Manchester United who have resurrected their form against the Blues lately.

It was the first meeting of the season between the two sides and Manchester United were the more concerned out of the two as their home form hasn't been near their best this season.

The game was a stalemate but it did involve a lot of heat, with moments of drama and controversy. Marcus Rashford was the closest to have made two attempts on goal during the dying minutes of the game, but Premier League debutant Edouard Mendy was there both times to deny him and the Red Devils a winner.

A picture also went viral with several Chelsea players, especially Cesar Azpilicueta being felt wrong done as he was grabbed by the United skipper Harry Maguire by his neck but denied a penalty.

Debatable outcomes were reviewed and just when a lot of people thought it was a hard call against Chelsea, Harry Maguire posted a similar picture of the Chelsea defenders grappling Scott McTominay and him, evidently articulating that they should've earned a spot-kick too.

2) Manchester United 1-3 Chelsea H2H (19 July 2020)

FA Cup semi-finals and Manchester United were already flying with a dominating record against Frank Lampard and co, beating them thrice already in the 2019-20 season.

However, a formation change was enough to hand Chelsea an advantage as United struggled to maintain the 3-5-2 formation that they attempted to nullify by setting up in the same way.

De Gea added to the troubles as Chelsea getting a two-goal lead by the end of half-time. A Harry Maguire own goal in the 74th was enough to put the game to bed, and then it was Bruno Fernandes who scored a consolation goal from the spot but it was too late for Manchester United to get back in it.

3) Chelsea 0-2 Manchester United H2H(18 Feb 2020)

Manchester United entered the fixture as the favorites with two previous wins in the tie. Chelsea were struck with an early blow as N'Golo Kante sustained an injury and couldn't continue.

Manchester United managed to fire a goal via Anthony Martial just at the end of the first 45 minutes. The second half witnessed Chelsea's 56th in goal ruled out due to a foul in the build-up.

The Red Devils were clever enough to not take any more chances and a Harry Maguire header was enough to seal the game, and also marking Maguire's maiden goal as a Manchester United player.

4) Chelsea 1-2 Manchester United H2H (31 Oct 2019)

The EFL Cup H2H clash between the Chelsea and Manchester United was the best of the rest as it was a Marcus Rashford show at Stamford Bridge. Manchester United earned a spot-kick in the 25th minute of the game, which Rashford fired.

However, Michy Batshuayi caught the United backline off guard and got his side back into the game. Just 12 minutes later, Manchester United were awarded a free-kick from a distance which only the likes of Ronaldo and Messi could've fancied.

Marcus Rashford produced a screamer as it deceived  Wilfredo Caballero completely in a 'Ronaldo-esque' fashion, a classic knuckle-ball freekick to help United progress in the further stages of the competition.

5) Manchester United 4-0 Chelsea H2H (11 Aug 2019)

The start of the 2019-20 season was a crucial one for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as Manchester United looked shambolic towards the end of the 2018/19 season, losing their spot in the Champions League after multiple disappointing performances since knocking out PSG in the Champions League round of 16.

Manchester United started off well with Marcus Rashford providing the home side an early lead from the penalty spot in the 18th minute.

The second half though saw a completely different Manchester United as each individual produced their best version of themselves. Anthony Martial scored from a fantabulous cross from Andreas Pereira, while just a couple of minutes later, Paul Pogba produced one of the best assists of the season, freeing Rashford in front of the D-line for a simple finish.

United's new signing Daniel James also ended up on the scoresheet after another exquisite Martial-Pogba link-up and finally fired into the goal by James, who was lucky that the deflection helped the ball in.

The upcoming H2H clash between Chelsea and Manchester United in the Premier League is expected to be a thrilling one as Manchester United focus on their title hopes, while Tuchel and Chelsea maintain their decent form after dropping points against the Saints.
